International Energy Agency Executive Director to Take Part At Teif 2025
The International Energy Agency (IEA) is a prominent intergovernmental organisation established in 1974 under the framework of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Its primary mission is to promote international cooperation in improving the global structure of energy demand and supply, as well as enhancing energy services. The IEA conducts in-depth analysis, offers policy recommendations, and facilitates the exchange of data and best practices among its member states. In recent years, the IEA has increasingly focused on decarbonisation, reducing methane and carbon dioxide emissions, and advancing innovative technologies in renewable energy. Dr Fatih Birol, the Executive Director of the Organisation, is a globally recognised energy expert who has led it since 2015. Under his leadership, the IEA has strengthened its position as a leading authority on global energy issues. Acknowledged as one of the world’s most influential figures in energy, he was featured on the Time 100 list of the world's most influential people in 2021, named by Forbes among the most impactful figures in the global energy realm, and honoured as Energy Personality of the Year by the Financial Times in 2017. Additionally, Dr Birol serves as the chairman of the World Economic Forum’s Energy Advisory Board, contributing to high-level discussions on the global energy transition. It is with great pleasure that we announce Dr Fatih Birol’s participation in the upcoming TEIF 2025, which will take place on April 23–24, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Dr Birol has been at the forefront of global efforts to shape the future of energy, advocating for sustainable policies and innovative solutions. He will speak at the Plenary Session titled "International Year of Peace and Trust: Turkmenistan's Role in the Future of Global Energy and Sustainable Growth." In his address, Dr Fatih Birol will share expert insights on key trends in the global energy sector, highlighting best practices in decarbonisation and enhancing energy efficiency. His participation at TEIF 2025 will underscore the importance of international collaboration in tackling the pressing climate and energy challenges of the future. Additionally, his presence will provide a valuable opportunity for all stakeholders to engage in discussions on fostering a just and inclusive energy transition, reinforcing Turkmenistan’s commitment to sustainable development and regional cooperation.
